Climbing the Promised Land !

"Terre Promise" is the french name for “Promised Land” and this is a new 160 m multipitches route, which was just opened in the magnificent gorges of Ardeche, more specifically on the eastern shoulder of Autridge.

One of the openers tell us the story of this beautiful multi-pitch route :

The route climbs three ledges with hanging gardens. The first already proposed a 6c pitch since few years and at the top, the last wall housed a beautiful 7c. Between these two pitches, a large pillar spilling three lengths with a smooth rock was making dream David, Guilhem and Pierrot ...

It took several long days opening from the bottom and a number of memorable flights. After several doubt times, hope came back and the route is now fully bolted, ready for free climbing. The hardest length, called the "Great Roof ardéchois” (Great Roof of Ardèche) saw its grade established around 8b, and recent attempts confirmed it.

A great route for a variety of styles was born with Verdon like slabs, steep walls with ribs, pockets walls and a “Yosemite like” roof ! The key length is still waiting for the first ascent, just go !

Terre Promise is an elitist 8b max route (7c required) but according to one of the openers: "It really worth it to go for a ride!" ... if you can climb that hard of course :)

Second climber reaching 9b+ !

9b+ might sounds like coming from another planet for most of us. First ascent of 9b+, The Change (FlatangerNorway) by Adam Ondra looks like aliens : the climber and the route Smile (watch the huge video on the Flatanger page). Last february, Czech mutant did it again by sending La dura dura at Oliana's crag (Spain), result of a great emulation with the route's bolter : Chris Sharma.Chris_SharmaA

A month and a half later, he has just done the first repeats of this world hardest graded route. Chris, who plays on the rock climbing highest levels for the last 15 years now, keeps on pushing up our sport limits. With 32 years old, he became today the second climber of history to send 9b+ french grade (5.15c) and the "oldest one" too ;)

Adam, Chris, thank you for making us dreaming and  . . .

Vive l'escalade ! Laughing

3000 sites !

A new step has just been reached with the 3 000th outdoor rock climbing area. These are as many possibilities for each climber to find its way through the world :)

This number could be achieved because of the increased participation of users of the website and the app. They regularly propose new sites and pictures to illustrate. Thank you!
